THIS WEEKEND WITH FATHER MARK

LIFE IN THE SPIRIT:
THE FORGIVING SPIRIT
When bad things happen to us, when people sin against us, we may get stuck in silence or violence towards others.  As human beings, we naturally tell ourselves a story when bad things happen, and the story usually includes three elements.

THERE IS A VICTIM:
“This is not my fault!”

THERE IS A VILLAIN:
“This is all your fault!”

THERE IS A HELPLESS PERSON:
“There is nothing I can do about it!”

The story that leads to silence and violence comes to us almost instantly. “This is not my fault and all your fault and there is nothing I can do about it” has been told again and again by many people and sometimes people tell it to themselves and others every day.

Whatever cross we have had thrust on us, we are given a new way forward by the Spirit.

The Church is a people waiting for the New Story to be written.

Grace is the source of an impossible story where everyone is a Victor in the end.

Father Jim’s Daily Reflection

April 25, 2019

(Acts 3:11-12) As the crippled man who had been cured clung to Peter and John, all the people hurried in amazement toward them. Peter said, “Why are you amazed at this, and why do you look so intently at us as if we had made him walk by our own power or piety?”

It is not because of a person’s own power or piety that their prayers are answered. It is faith in the power of the Lord that brings about miracles.

Online Giving

When we give God our lives, that includes our time, talent and treasure.

According to Jesus, the places and people we give our treasure to are the keepers of our heart and the objects of our affection.

“For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” –  Matthew 6:21 (NAB)

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple.  If you do, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, I will open the windows of heaven for you.  I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it!  Put me to the test!”  –  Malachi 3:10 (NLT)
