Opening Song

Glory (Let There Be Peace)

Opening Prayer

O Emmanuel,
may this wreath and its light remind us
that it is Jesus who came to fulfill all our desires.
Bless this wreath and all who gather around it
as we prepare our hearts to celebrate Christmas.

Come, Lord Jesus, bring HOPE, PEACE, JOY, and LOVE to our world.

Scripture Reading

A Reading from the Second Letter of Saint Peter.

Do not ignore this one fact, beloved,
that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years
and a thousand years like one day.

The Lord does not delay his promise, as some regard “delay,”
but he is patient with you,
not wishing that any should perish
but that all should come to repentance.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief,
and then the heavens will pass away with a mighty roar
and the elements will be dissolved by fire,
and the earth and everything done on it will be found out.

(2 Peter 2:8-10)

The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Reflection

PEACE is more than just a feeling. PEACE is a part of who we are because we have been chosen by God to be His special people. As His special people God gives us special treatment … PEACE … glory … and most especially He gives us His Son … Jesus … the Prince of PEACE.

Questions to Contemplate

What makes you upset?

What calms you down?

What makes you happy and brings you PEACE?

How does the Prince of Peace making His home among us bring us PEACE?

In what ways is the PEACE of Jesus a part of who we are?

Closing Prayer

Jesus, Desire of Nations, You entered our world on Christmas as the Prince of Peace. This Advent, as we strive to better follow Your guidance, fill us with a deep and abiding Peace. Help us share that Peace with everyone we encounter, especially those who need it most.

Closing Song

O Come, O Come Emmanuel
